Luke Ward meets a strange woman one day in the library who shows him his future. Upon witnessing the wonderful life he will one day have, Luke attempts to make it happen right away, including finding the girl he is to marry, applying for the job he will one day have. But things begin to go wrong. his enthusiasm hurts him more than it helps. In rushing his future, he loses it.

Sadie Starlight is a young star living in Shinaway City, the capital of Sky. She is graduating and soon to be locked into a career that she doesn't want. She'll be stuck being someone she isn't. Refusing to give in to her society, Sadie stands up for herself, only to be attacked by darkened stars. She runs away, and the entire city is thrust into chaos giving Darkness the chance they have been waiting for to take over the entire sky. Will Sadie find a way to save the sky? Will she find a way to be herself?
